The Tribunal Annual Statistics for 2009 are as follows:
  • 2008-09 found an increase of 56% in claims accepted by Employment Tribunals, the highest number yet recorded (mainly owing to multiple claims).
  • Unfair dismissal, breach of contract and redundancy claims increased by 17%.
  • 400,000 claims remained unheard despite a 22% increase in the number of disposals.
  • The amount of time from application to hearing increased. The number of first hearings being heard within 26 weeks fell from 74% to 65%.
