A section devoted to discussing the Palestine-Israel conflict might seem out of place on the website of an organisation defending the rights of workers in Britain. This has however become necessary owing to the stream of misinformation on this subject directed at workers by British unions in cooperation with extremist left and islamist groups working for the destruction of Israel. This alliance with the most reactionary of causes is to be deplored and points to the level of infiltration of the unions by the extreme left allied with their strange bedfellow the islamist fascist. These groups such as the secretive and entryist Socialist Action that having lost its base in Ken Livingston's GLC now effectively runs the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (supported and partly financed by Unison from the subs of their workers) have little interest in helping workers but are rather interested in the use of the unions to further their own political goals.

• Rather than promote peaceful co-operation between Palestinians and Israelis, British unions are at the forefront of efforts to undermine links between palestinians and israelis and promote boycotts of israeli goods even when palestinian trade unionists are against this. The main effect of boycotting Israel and its main trade union the Histadrut serves to undermine the palestinian national interest, most notably losing much needed jobs for palestinians in israeli companies and even to prevent the export of palestinian produce.
• British unions' acting to undermine israeli workers and unionists is moreover immoral as unions should not take sides in a conflict but support workers and their interests.
• Unions should use their organisational skills in helping to resolve even seemingly intractable conflicts rather than exacerbating conflicts.
• British workers need to question their unions when they single out the only democracy in the middle-east for never ending condemnation and boycotts whilst ignoring the flagrant abuse of unionists rights to organise and protest in arab and islamic countries. Workers should ask their unions why Israel is the only country in the world to be subject to such treatment? It is somethimes hard not to believe that activists supposedly working for the palestinian cause are in fact closet anti-semites. Sometimes the anti-semitism is unmasked such as that of the Labour MP Tam Dalyell
