| Direct Discrimination: occurs when you are discriminated against because of a protected characteristic such as a disability that you may have. Indirect Discrimination: This is where you are not directly discriminated against, but a policy has the effect of impacting disproportionately against people with a protected characteristic. Associative Discrimination: Direct Discrimination where you are discriminated against because you are associated with someone having a protected characteristic. Perception Discrimination: Direct Discrimination where you are discriminated against because you are believed to have a protected characteristic. Harassment: Employers may now be liable for harassment of their workers by third parties. Employers are liable for harassment they direct at somebody other than the complainant. Victimisation: where after making a grievance or complaint under the Equality Act you are subjected to maltreatment by your employer.
